Her 2018 single ‘One Kiss’ with Calvin Harris spent nine weeks at number one in the UK and eight of the next nine weeks in second place, earning her the 2019 Brit Award for Song of the Year; this dominant run made it the longest-running number-one single by a female artist in the UK in 2018. Lipa’s 2019 Grammy Award for Best New Artist was the icing on top, with another Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording for her Silk City collaboration ‘Electricity’ scattering crumbs everywhere. Later in 2019, she released ‘Don’t Start Now’ as the lead single from her second studio album, which climbed to number two in the UK and US, and to number four on the US year-end chart, making it the most commercially successful song by a female artist in the US in 2020. Her five chart-topping follow-up singles, ‘Levitating’, ‘Physical’, and ‘Break My Heart’ are all still to be found in the top 10.
In 2020, Lipa released her sophomore studio album Future Nostalgia to widespread adulation. It garnered six Grammy nominations – including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year – and became her first album to top the charts in her native UK, where it was also certified platinum. That year, Lipa won British Female Solo Artist and British Album of the Year at the 2021 Brit Awards. She has since received further recognition through recognition on the Time 100 Next list (2021). In 2022, she made her modeling debut at Versace’s Spring/Summer 2022 show at Milan Fashion Week.
